“Grading job outside Shoreham had a culvert outlet cutting a trench straight through a client's ditch every time it rained hard. Vermont Rock Supply brought six tons of riprap and the tandem placed it right at the outlet exactly where we flagged, no trouble getting close since the road there is wide. Packed it in around the pipe ourselves and it's held through two seasons of heavy storm water without a new cut anywhere.”

Everything You Need to Know About Stone Fill
Size and Grading
- Size
- 4 inches to 12 inches and up
- Type
- Large, heavy stone
Mud season can leave Vermont ground soft just as runoff begins to work along a bank or low drainage route. Stone Fill belongs on surfaces exposed to moving water, including shorelines, slopes, stream banks, and channels. Its large, heavy stone is intended for locations where lighter aggregate can be displaced and leave soil open to erosion.
Deep frost and repeated thawing can make exposed ground especially vulnerable after winter. Keep Stone Fill focused along the portion of a slope, shoreline, or drainage path that receives moving flow, rather than using it across areas not exposed to water. It is also appropriate around a culvert discharge where water exits onto unprotected ground.

Customer Reviews
Great rock, a couple pieces huge
Three tons of riprap for a small stretch of eroding bank along a brook on our property in Sandgate. Locks together well and stopped the undercutting almost immediately. A couple of the pieces came in bigger than I expected for the size we ordered, closer to boulder than rock, and needed the tractor to move instead of just rolling them by hand.

Happy With My Order
Two tons of riprap for a short stretch of eroding creek bank at the edge of our field in Rupert. Rock is holding the bank fine now. Tandem left deep ruts crossing the field to get close enough to unload.

Culvert outlet stopped the ditch erosion
Grading job outside Shoreham had a culvert outlet cutting a trench straight through a client's ditch every time it rained hard. Vermont Rock Supply brought six tons of riprap and the tandem placed it right at the outlet exactly where we flagged, no trouble getting close since the road there is wide. Packed it in around the pipe ourselves and it's held through two seasons of heavy storm water without a new cut anywhere.

Spillway edge finally stops eroding
The pond dam behind our barn in Sudbury has been slowly eating away at the spillway edge for a few seasons now, ever since a hard spring runoff cut a channel through the grass. It took most of a Saturday to place them the way we wanted, wedged tight against each other instead of just dumped. One full runoff season later, the spillway edge hasn't moved an inch.

Pasture edge stops losing ground
A stretch of creek bank behind our place in Whiting kept calving into the water every spring melt, taking a little more of the pasture each year. Riprap went in along the worst twenty feet, two tons total, and the yard had it delivered within three days of the call. The bank held through this year's runoff without losing another foot of ground.
