“Ringed the foundation of our house in Dorset with a bed of river rock instead of the mulch that kept washing away every spring. Two tons filled it in nicely with a layer of fabric underneath first. Rounded stone looks clean against the stone foundation and hasn't shifted even after a couple of heavy downpours this summer.”

“Measured the new garden beds along the fence line in Milton and ordered what the calculator suggested, one and a half yards of topsoil. Filled in nicely and the texture is exactly what we wanted for the new plantings, dark and crumbly.”

“Sized up our new sandbox build out in Bakersfield and ordered half a ton of mason sand, figured that would be plenty of room. Sand itself is soft and fine, exactly what we wanted for little hands to dig in.”

“Regraded a three hundred foot driveway on a serious pitch for a client above Brattleboro, the kind of grade where regular bank run just washes into the ditch every time it rains hard. Put down twenty two tons of the 3/4 inch angular stone as the top layer over a compacted base, since it locks together instead of rolling downhill like rounded gravel would. Vermont Rock Supply sent a tri axle that handled the switchbacks on the access road, and the driver dumped three separate piles exactly where we'd need them for spreading. Through two full seasons of rain and one ice storm, the surface hasn't shifted or rutted.”

“The county road lane into our place in Peacham turns to soup every April, and the milk truck was starting to refuse the last hundred feet before we did something about it. We put down twenty five tons of the #4 over geotextile fabric last spring, tamped it in hard with the tractor bucket the same week. One mud season later the lane holds fine, the truck doesn't sink, and my husband finally stopped grumbling about the driveway every March.”

“Three tons of riprap for a small stretch of eroding bank along a brook on our property in Sandgate. Locks together well and stopped the undercutting almost immediately. A couple of the pieces came in bigger than I expected for the size we ordered, closer to boulder than rock, and needed the tractor to move instead of just rolling them by hand.”
Elwood N. · Sandgate, VT

“Built a stacked block retaining wall for a sloped yard outside Townshend and needed clean drain rock behind it so the wall wouldn't get hit with hydrostatic pressure every spring thaw. Used about six tons total, three feet deep behind the wall with a perforated pipe running out to daylight at the low end. Vermont Rock Supply's tri axle backed down the shared driveway carefully, tight quarters with a neighbor's fence on one side, and dumped it in two piles right where we needed to shovel from. Wall's been through a full spring melt and several heavy rains, completely dry behind the block with no staining.”

“Our quarter mile lane out to the back hay field in Rochester has been a mess every spring, deep enough in April that the tractor would bog down hauling bales. This year we put thirty tons of road base down the worst two hundred feet, graded it with the box blade and let it settle before the ground froze. Vermont Rock Supply ran a tri axle out here three times over two days since ours is a narrow lane, safer one load at a time for the ditches. First mud season since, and the lane carried every load of hay without the tractor sinking once.”

“Trenched a French drain around the uphill side of an old farmhouse foundation in Dummerston that had water seeping through the fieldstone every spring. “Put down five tons of crusher run for a run in pad behind the barn in Bradford, spot the cows stand around most of the winter. Compacted it myself with a rented plate tamper over a Saturday afternoon. Ground used to churn to mud by January, and now the herd has solid footing even after a week of freezing rain.”

“Property manager for a condo cluster near Waitsfield, and every winter we need extra parking once snow piles up and the overflow grass turns to mud. Vermont Rock Supply delivered eight tons of crusher run for a proper pad at the edge of the lot, tandem truck squeezed in between two buildings without touching the siding. Compacted it in an afternoon and it held up fine through a busy season of plows and guest traffic.”

“Ordered 3/8 inch crushed stone twice this year for two different projects out at the farm near Derby, up close to the Quebec line where our gravel roads get rough in spring. First load, about two tons, went into a batch of concrete for a new equipment pad footing. Second load, four tons, became the topcoat for a walking path between the barn and the farmhouse that our grandkids use every day now. Vermont Rock Supply kept both deliveries inside the same week window, and the tri axle driver never once complained about our long dirt lane. Both hold up fine into a second winter.”

“Three tons of washed sand went in as a leveling bed under the new porch footings out here in Leicester. Vermont Rock Supply had it dropped on plywood in the driveway so the loader wouldn't tear up the lawn getting to the back. We poured right on top of it, and the footings came through the season's first hard freeze without a single crack.”

“Ten tons of #57 went under the aisle floor and around the footings of our new run in shed outside Middlebury. Ground here holds water something awful in November, and this stone let it drain instead of turning to a swamp. “A small footing job at camp near Plymouth called for gravel sand instead of the bagged stuff, and it blended smooth without any of the clay streaks our last load from the hardware store had. “Used gravel sand twice this year for two different jobs around Windsor, coarse enough for concrete work and clean enough for base under pavers without needing two separate products. First load, about five tons, went into a concrete pour for a garage slab. Second load, three tons, became the base under a paver walk for the same client a month later. Vermont Rock Supply kept both deliveries within a day of when we asked, tri axle each time, dumped exactly where the crew flagged. Both jobs are holding up fine into a second season, slab hasn't cracked and the walkway hasn't shifted a bit.”

“A feeder brook cuts across the back of our property in Weybridge, and every heavy rain sent it braiding through the lawn in a new spot. Nine tons of three to six inch large river rock went in on a dry week in September, in three separate drop spots along the bank so the excavator could reach each one without crossing the brook itself. Vermont Rock Supply had the tri-axle there right on schedule. The first hard rain that fall pushed through the new channel exactly the way we shaped it, no new gully, no water finding its own path.”

“Do beds for six regular clients around Rutland and switched all of them to Vermont Rock Supply's shredded mulch last spring after getting tired of inconsistent color from the big-box pallets. Ordered fifteen yards total across two deliveries, both tandem loads dumped exactly where I asked at each property. Color held dark through the whole summer without fading to gray, and every client has asked for the same mulch again this fall.”

“Our school in Royalton needed an overflow gravel lot for game days and the mud after every home football game was getting embarrassing. Vermont Rock Supply delivered ten tons of road base, tandem truck dropped it right along the tree line where the booster club marked flags. “Built a short farm road through a low, wet stretch for a client outside Benson where nothing else had held up, not even the crusher run they tried two years back. Ordered twelve tons of railroad ballast and the tri axle dropped it right along the worst hundred feet without sinking itself. Graded it flat with the tractor and it's carried heavy equipment through two full mud seasons without settling.”

“Our elementary school in Jericho started a garden program this spring, four raised beds along the fence facing the playground. We brought in three yards of garden soil to fill them since the native dirt here is mostly ledge and clay. The driver squeezed the truck through the bus loop before drop off and left it in a single pile by the beds for the volunteers to wheelbarrow over. Parent volunteers planted tomatoes, beans and squash the first week of June. By the end of summer the tomato plants stood taller than most of the kindergartners, and the squash took over two whole beds before the first frost.”

“Our little congregation in St. Johnsbury needed to firm up the gravel lot before the fall rummage sale. Ordered based on the online calculator, eight tons of #57, and ended up a full ton short once it was spread and compacted. Stone itself compacted hard and handled the first ice storm just fine.”

“Had three big maples taken down and stump ground in the yard in Berlin, left a series of shallow craters full of wood chips and sawdust. Two yards of topsoil filled and leveled each one, raked it smooth and seeded over the top with my grandson helping spread the grass seed. Grass came in thick within a month and you can't tell there were ever stumps there at all.”

“Own a small inn in Londonderry and wanted a low maintenance border along the front walkway instead of the annual mulch refresh. Ordered three tons of river rock and the driver placed it in one tidy pile right at the edge of the walk where we'd already rolled out the fabric. Guests keep commenting on how tidy the entrance looks, and it hasn't needed a thing since we spread it last fall.”

“Used nine tons of #8 for pipe bedding, tamped a base layer under the new pipe and covered it before backfilling with the dirt we'd pulled out. Vermont Rock Supply had a tandem out here two days after I called, driver backed down the field lane careful of the fence posts and dumped it in two spots along the trench. Ground settled evenly over the winter and the tile finally moves water the way it should.”

“Volunteer crew redid the path from the sidewalk to the side door of our church in Bellows Falls, uneven old pavers that were a trip hazard for older members. Vermont Rock Supply brought three tons of walkway gravel and dropped it right at the curb during a quiet weekday morning. Easy to rake smooth even for a crew who'd never handled gravel before, and it's held through a full season of Sunday foot traffic.”

“Water was pooling along the north side of the house every time it rained, right where the roof drip line hits, out in Randolph. Dug a shallow trench and filled it with a ton and a half of #89. Small enough to rake smooth by hand, and it drains the second the rain lets up now instead of turning to a mud strip against the siding.”

“The worst stretch of our dirt road outside Putney washboards every couple of years right where it crests the hill, so we brought in thirteen tons of driveway gravel this August to top off about a hundred feet before ski season traffic starts back up on the town road.”

“Ordered nine tons of the 3/4 inch for a client's driveway base near Ludlow, standard job I've done a dozen times. Stone graded out fine and compacted the way it should. Driver ended up dumping the whole load at the top of the driveway instead of down by the garage where the delivery notes clearly said, so my crew spent an extra hour moving it by wheelbarrow before we could even start spreading.”

“Built a gravel pad behind the barn for the new tractor back in June, about four tons of crusher run over a bit of fabric. Vermont Rock Supply had the tri-axle out within two days of ordering and the driver dumped it exactly where my son marked with stakes, even backing down our narrow lane without tearing up the lawn. Compacted it ourselves with a plate tamper and it locked up solid, no shifting under the loader tires all summer. Cheaper per ton than the quarry in Barre quoted, and delivered faster too.”

“Laid a paver walkway for a client in Danby and used four tons of washed sand as the leveling base under the pavers, clean and easy to screed flat with a notched board. Tandem driver placed it close to the work area so hauling was minimal. Walkway has stayed tight and level through a full season of foot traffic and one hard freeze without a single paver shifting.”

“Managing two rental units on opposite sides of Hartland meant needing gravel sand under a new paver walk at each one. The yard wouldn't split a two ton order between the two addresses, no matter how close they sit, so a second delivery fee got tacked on just to get a half load to the other property. The sand is exactly what a paver base should be, packed tight and draining fine through mud season.”

“Regraded a rutted stretch of gravel lane for a client outside Enosburg Falls, about nine tons of driveway gravel topped over the old base. Tri axle backed in tight along the fence and dumped it in two piles exactly where we needed. Took half a day to spread and it's already shed two heavy rains without washing back into the ditch.”

“Ten yards of fill dirt to backfill the trench left after we put in a new leach field out back. Vermont Rock Supply spread the delivery over two piles so we could work one side while the excavator finished grading the other. We compacted it in layers, about six inches at a time, tamping each pass before adding the next so it wouldn't settle into a dip once the grass went back in.”

“We've poured a lot of slabs around Barre and always run into granite ledge close to the surface, so drainage under the concrete has to be right or you get heaving by February. Ordered fourteen tons of #57 for a garage slab and the French drain running off the downspouts. Vermont Rock Supply beat the quarry's price by a fair margin and had a tandem out within two days, dumped in two spots exactly where we staked flags. Compacted clean, drained through last spring's rain without a puddle near the footing, and the slab hasn't cracked through a full freeze thaw cycle.”

“Grading job outside Shoreham had a culvert outlet cutting a trench straight through a client's ditch every time it rained hard. Vermont Rock Supply brought six tons of riprap and the tandem placed it right at the outlet exactly where we flagged, no trouble getting close since the road there is wide. Packed it in around the pipe ourselves and it's held through two seasons of heavy storm water without a new cut anywhere.”

“Switched to Vermont Rock Supply this year for a decorative bed job, about four tons of one to three inch river rock split between foundation beds and downspout splash areas for a client's new build. Tandem driver eased down a tight gravel lane without clipping the mailbox and dumped two piles exactly where we'd staged the landscape fabric. Colors run a natural mix of gray and tan, and three months of heavy rain later there's no erosion under either downspout.”
